These are wild irises that grow along the Glenn Highway. This picture does NO justice. They are really beautiful. The entire field is purple.
This is my Bleeding Heart that is about 12 years old. It is almost as tall as I am. I have never done anything with it until this year. I added some fertilizer, I'm sure it will die!
Anchorage Daily Newspaper on Thursday had a close up of "the wild iris at Eklutna Flats that are in shades of purple from royal to pale lavender. You must be at least 100 feet off the Glenn Highway to pick the flowers and digging up the whole plant is consider illegal. ALASKA LANDSCAPE IS RICH WITH COLORS"
I've seen them and I think the are most beautiful. I loved the Lilacs. Mine are still alive.
